IUHW was founded in 1995 as the first comprehensive university of health and welfare in Japan to advance the social status of specialists in the field of health and welfare. Our goal is to train and educate future leaders in their respective fields, capable of responding to the advancement and specialization of health and welfare field with good judgment and intelligence. At the same time, we have been strengthening international relations and cooperation activities across the globe, especially with developing countries in Southeast Asia. Approximately 10,000 students currently study at 10 schools and 26 departments on 5 campuses located in Otawara City (Tochigi), Narita City (Chiba), Akasaka (Tokyo), Odawara City (Kanagawa), and Okawa City (Fukuoka).
